The EWF learned with big sadness that Mr. Marcello Zoratti, a well-known Italian sports figure, has passed away. Zoratti has been involved and very active in Weightlifting for more than 60 years. The German Team Championships are set to kick off this weekend on Saturday 29.04.2023, featuring the best weightlifting teams from across the country. The top three teams from the regular season will compete for the championship, with only six lifters allowed to compete and two substitutes. On the final day of the 2023 EWF European Championships, the Women’s 87+ kg category took place and saw some impressive performances from the athletes. British athlete Brittian Emilly Campbell claimed the gold medal, while Georgian athlete HOTFRID Anastasiia secured the silver medal, and Ukrainian athlete KISIL Valentyna claimed the bronze. Karlos Nasar made history at the 2023 EWF European Championships in Yerevan, Armenia, by breaking not one, but three world records in the men’s 89kg category. The Bulgarian weightlifter got off to an explosive start by breaking the previous Junior Snatch record with a lift of 174 kg. He then went on to break the world Clean and Jerk record with a lift of 221kg. Finally, with a total result of 395kg, Nasar secured the world record for the total!
