Day 8: Emotional home victory for Gasparayan in men’s 109kg category at EWF European Championships

On the eighth day of the 2023 EWF European Championships in Yerevan, the competition continued to showcase some of the best weightlifting in the world. From the intense energy of the crowd to the incredible feats of strength, it was a day to remember.
At the 2023 EWF European Championships held in Yerevan, Armenian weightlifter KARAPETYAN Garik won the gold medal in the men’s 102kg category. He was encouraged by the home crowd as he pulled himself to victory. He was also able to break 3 world and European junior records in snatch, clean and jerk and total.
The silver medal was won by CHKHEIDZE Irakli of Georgia, who competed valiantly, and the bronze went to BRATU Tudor of Moldova.
The Men’s 109kg category, where Samvel Gasparyan from Armenia won the gold medal, was one of the day’s highlights. The home crowd, who had been supporting him the entire time, was overjoyed by the astounding total weight he had lifted. After an incredible lifting performance, Giorgi Chkheidze from Georgia won the silver medal, and Petros Petrosyan from Armenia won the bronze.
Additionally, there was a noteworthy performance by Martirosjan Sargis, who was born in Armenia but representing Austria, and won the bronze medal in the snatch. It was a proud moment for both Austria and Armenia, as Sargis showcased his strength and skill in the highly competitive category.
Norwegian athlete KOANDA Solfrid took the gold medal in the women’s 87 kg category. Ukrainian athlete MANIEVSKA Anastasiia secured the silver medal, while Armenian athlete KHURSHUDYAN Hripsime claimed the bronze medal in front of her home crowd.
KOANDA Solfrid lifted her way to victory, showcasing her strength and skill in front of an enthusiastic crowd. The Norwegian athlete proved herself to be a worthy champion, earning the gold medal with her impressive performance.
