Karlos Nasar made history at the 2023 EWF European Championships in Yerevan, Armenia, by breaking not one, but three world records in the men’s 89kg category. The Bulgarian weightlifter got off to an explosive start by breaking the previous Junior Snatch record with a lift of 174 kg. He then went on to break the world Clean and Jerk record with a lift of 221kg. Finally, with a total result of 395kg, Nasar secured the world record for the total! The feat is even more impressive considering Nasar was born in 2004 and competing at the European Championships for seniors.

With a total lift of 371 kg, Andranik Karapetyan of Armenia won the silver medal in the men’s 89 kg division. He had overwhelming support from the home crowd throughout the competition, and his performance did not disappoint. Throughout the tournament, he displayed impressive strength and skill, and the audience clapped and cheered after each successful lift.

Robu Marin of Moldova, who lifted a total of 369 kg, took home the bronze medal. Robu, who was among the youngest competitors in his category, showed amazing talent and tenacity by giving every lift his all. His perseverance paid off, as he proudly took his place on the podium.

FEGUE Marie Josephe, a weightlifter from France, put on an impressive display, demonstrating both her strength and precision in each of her lifts. She competed with amazing consistency throughout, which finally resulted in her taking home the gold medal in the women’s 76kg division.

HAKOBYAN Tatev, an athlete from Armenia, competed in front of a passionate home audience and was a clear crowd favorite. She won the silver medal by displaying excellent technique and perseverance in each of her lifts. It was a well-earned victory for HAKOBYAN, who unquestionably made her nation proud.

Latvian weightlifter VANOVA Daniela put up a strong battle and took home the bronze. She was able to perform her lifts with power and precision, and her strength and concentration were obvious throughout the tournament. We congratulate VANOVA on this outstanding accomplishment.
