The European Weightlifting Federation Executive Board has officially decided to reallocate the 2025 European Youth and U15 Championships to the Spanish Weightlifting Federation following an online meeting on February 13, 2025. The competition will be organized in Madrid, Spain, from July 23 to 30, 2025.

The Executive Board reviewed the applications of the National Federations of Albania, Bulgaria, and Spain, but the Spanish proposal was declared the winner also considering the presentation of the letter of guarantee for the access of AIN participants with Belarusian and Russian passports. The competition had initially been allocated to the Polish Weightlifting Federation, which informed the EWF in December 2024 that it could no longer ensure the conditions imposed.

This decision is an excellent news for the European weightlifting community, as Spain has returned with energy among the organizing countries. It is worth noting that Spain also recently organized the 2024 World Junior Weightlifting Championships, in September, in Leon.

Therefore, the 2025 European Youth and U15 Championships will be the 12th European Championship hosted in Spain:

• European Senior Championships  (Men): 1973 (Madrid), 1984 (Vitoria)

• European Senior Championships (Women): 1990 (Santa Cruz de Tenrife), 1993 (Valencia), 1997 (Sevilla)

• European Senior Championships (Men & Women): 1999 (La Coruña)

• European Junior Championships: 1993 (Valencia), 1997 (Sevilla), 2003 (Valencia), 2009 (Puerto de la Cruz)

• European Youth Championships: 2010 (Valencia)

• European U16 Championships: 1998 (La Coruña)

In Madrid, all participants will be accommodated in hotels within walking distance of the training area located in the Spanish National Weightlifting Training Centre. The facility is fully equipped with 25 training platforms, a physiotherapy room, and a sauna.
