AWF created “Tekan” platform to make the voluntary support mechanism more accessible, in addition to the measures implemented by the state in the direction of the development of weightlifting. NEW CHAPTER IN AZERBAIJAN WEIGHTLIFTING In 2022, AWF chose the way to develop weightlifting in our country by developing region’s sport. We made an effort to change the situation and in short time about 10 new weightlifting halls opened in Goranboy, Ganja, Samukh, Tovuz, Gazakh, Ismayilli, Gakh, Balakan, Sabirabad and Zangilan. The EWF is pleased to inform you that the Portugal Weightlifting Federation (FHP) is now a full member of the EWF. Portugal weightlifting federation is again an active member of our sports family, following a decision made by the IWF EB, Congress ratification in Bogota (COL) last December, and other formalities. We will have the opportunity to meet representatives of the FHP during the IWF / EWF Coach license program in Sweden in March, and we are looking forward to it. In March 2023 the EWF will launch the IWF Pilot program for the International Coach Licence. The IWF license will become mandatory following the Paris Olympics. From 2024 all IWF Member Federation coaches will be required to be licensed to coach at IWF Competitions. On January 4-6, 2023, the Asian Weightlifting Federation Electoral Congress was held in Doha, Qatar. Yousef Al Mana (QAT) was elected AWF President, Mohammed Alharbi (KSA) was elected General Secretary, and Mohammed Jalood was elected First Vice President.Abdullah Aljarmal (YEM), Meng Bo (CHN), Sung Yong Choi (KOR), Shakhrillo Makhmudov (UZB), and Monica Puentevella (PHI) are the AWF Vice Presidents.
