Azerbaijan Weightlifting Cup among women, men, and masters, held on December 21-23 at the competition hall of Weightlifting Academy in Shuvalan settlement, Baku, ended. More than a hundred athletes competed in this tournament. For the first time in the history of Azerbaijani weightlifting 25 women athletes took part in national-level competitions. It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Mr. Marino Ercolani Casadei, founder, President, and Honorary President of the San Marino Weightlifting Federation. From 1991 to 2016, he was the General Secretary and/or Treasurer of the European Weightlifting Federation. During the IWF special congress in Bogota, the IWF announced that the International Coach Licence will become mandatory in 2024 following the Olympics in Paris. This license will be mandatory for all coaches seeking accreditation at IWF competitions. It was also announced that the EWF will run the Pilot program during 2023. The EWF Coach Licence program will start March 2023 and the EWF will forward IWF / EWF Pilot program details to the national federations within the next two weeks.
