The 43rd European Small Nations Tournament, as well as the International Trophy Cyprus/Greece/Israel/Germany & Cyprus – Greece Friendship Cup and International Junior Cup 2022, will be held in Limassol, Cyprus, from November 3rd to November 6th, 2022. Cyprus Weightlifting Federation was granted the IWF Development Program in order to provide important seminars, to promote Clean Sport and the ongoing development of all European Small Nations Weightlifting Federations, through seminar topics Anti-Doping’, IWF Olympic Weightlifting Technical Rules, and Sport Injuries and Prevention. The 2022 European Junior & U23 Championship, which took place from October 15 to 25 in Durres Ramazan Njala Sports Palace, has been successfully concluded. The junior championships had 198 athletes from 31 nations, while the U23 championships included 144 participants from 30 countries. The Championships were one of the most high-quality events, not only in terms of teams and weightlifters but also in terms of organization. From October 28 until 30 the 2022 German Weightlifting Championship will take place in Böbingen, a little weightlifting enthusiastic town of 5.000 inhabitants in the Southern part of Germany. 173 lifters will compete for gold, silver and bronze. SPORTLAND Lower Austria hosted an event to recognize the Best athletes in 2021. The ceremony “Sport Lounge Lower Austria” took place on October 19th in Grafenegg, Lower Austria. Sarah Fischer finished second in the athlete of the year award in lower Austria, after winning 33 medals at the European and World Championships. The Dutch Nikki Löwik (b.2001) won gold for the snatch, the clean & jerk and the total in the -76kg class for U23 athletes at the 2022 European championships in Durres, Albania. It is the first time a Dutch female has won an international medal outside of the masters categories. After snatching 92 and 95 kilos, she ended with a convincing personal best of 97 kilos. The weightlifting federation of Iceland, established on the 27th of January 1973,  celebrates its first European championship title after almost 50 years of operation. Eygló Fanndal Sturludóttir (b.2001) made a convincing victory in the -71 kg U23 category  at the European championship held in Durres, Albania. She exceeded the silver medalist Lara Dancz of Germany by 12 kg and the bronze medalist Vicky Graillot of France by 15kg, making all good lifts, 90kg, 94kg and 97kg in snatch and 114kg, 117kg and 120kg in clean and jerk. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan participated at the inauguration of the weightlifting club in “Zangazur Dost”, which was installed in “Dost Agropark”. At the opening ceremony, members of the national weightlifting teams of Türkiye and Azerbaijan, as well as amateur athletes of the sports club, had a conversation with the two heads of states.
