The first official biography of Greek 3-times Olympic champion (and one bronze medal) and VP of the IWF Executive Board is out in Greece. Telling the story of his life to journalist Nikos Efstathiou, who provides context in the roughly 350 pages of the book, Pyrros Dimas talks about authoritarianism, weightlifting, migration, Olympic success, and public service. Santasport in Rovaniemi, Finland, welcomed the Nordic countries Oct. 8-9 to battle for Nordic titles. The best female performance was lifted by Finland’s Saara Retulainen in the women’s 59 kg category. After her personal best performance last week in Meissen with a 208kg total in the 64 kg category, she dropped down to 59 kg and posted a 89 kg snatch together with a 112 kg clean and jerk. The EWF has received the most recent information on Covid test prices for the 2022 European Junior and U23 Championships. The AWF President and the AWF Executive Board discussed with the Ministry of Health following certain concerns from the national federations and decided to lower the cost of the COVID test from 50 EUR to 30 EUR due to the high volume of tests. The cost includes the medical staff, three shifts with 2 nurses, accommodation in case someone tests positive. The “Alpe Adria International Weightlifting Tournament” is the oldest weightlifting Tournament in the IWF and EWF Calendar.
