The European Weightlifting Federation is very happy to announce its first voting process for the nomination of the 2021 BEST WEIGHTLIFTER OF THE YEAR for female and male athletes is now open. Thornton Tenishia, won the Female Youth Athlete of the Year Award at the 62nd edition of the SPORTMALTA Awards. Tenishia Thornton Maltese weightlifter finished sixth in the IWF World Rankings last year at the age of 16. Despite being the youngest athlete in the tournament, she earned a bronze medal in the Commonwealth Senior Championships in Tashkent. She holds two Commonwealth Records in the Snatch and Total events and is Malta’s top overall athlete. This was Thornton’s second year in a row winning this award in this category.

Slovenian Weightlifting Federation held elections on 9.4.2022. in Kranj. Mr. Damjan Canzek, President of the Slovenian Weightlifting Federation, was trusted with a new four years mandate as President and Mr. Slavko Laljek was trusted new four years mandate as General Secretary.
