On the eve of the long-awaited Opening Ceremony of the anniversary edition of the most important continental championships, 31 Member Federations participated in the ordinary meeting organized in the beautiful city of Durres on the Albanian coast of the Adriatic Sea. During the meeting, the reports and plans of activity of the President, the General Secretary, the Treasurer, the EWF Committees and Commissions were ratified.
The Congress was chaired by the EWF President and General Secretary of the EWF in the presence of the leadership of the IWF and other continental federations, invited as guests also in the view of the intercontinental understanding to be assumed by the federations for the common development of weightlifting and implementation of common programs, including intercontinental training camps, project initiated by the EWF President.
During the meeting, the President of the Colombian Weightlifting Federation, Mr. William Pena, was invited to present useful information about the upcoming IWF World Senior Championships – Olympic Qualification Event for Paris 2024 to be held in Bogota, Colombia, in December this year.
A good part of the discussions was also held in the context of initiatives to promote weightlifting through events that will be organized in the street or on the beach in the near future. The presentation of the activities undertaken for the elaboration and drafting of the new EWF Constitutions, as well as those related to the continuation of the efforts for a possible access to the program of the 2023 European Games in Poland.
In addition to fulfilling all the points in the agenda, the meeting was also marked by a special moment dedicated to the presentation of some EWF Distinctions to former Olympic Champions, coaches who obtained outstanding performances, International Technical Official with impressive activity, personalities and leaders of European National Federations:

The moment was completed by the Ukrainian Weightlifting Federation, which wished to present symbolic distinctions to the President of the EWF, Mr. Antonio Conflitti, EWF General Secretary, Dr. Milan Mihajlovic, IWF Interim President, Dr. Michael Irani, IWF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Jalood and to Mr. Alex Padure, EWF Executive Board Member and Romanian Weightlifting Federation General Secretary for the support granted to the Ukrainian weightlifting teams to participate in the Championships World Junior Championships in Greece, at the European Senior Championships in Albania and for the support given in the preparation of the men’s national team in Romania.
The meeting ended after the presentation of new equipment of Eleiko company was presented and activities of the program were recalled, including Anti-Doping and Fair Play education seminar that will debut on Friday 27 May, 2022, in Durres, before the Opening Ceremony Event in the competition venue in Tirana.
The EWF President wished to all the Member Federations good luck and declared the meeting closed.
