Encouraging news as the International Sports Press Association Europe (AIPS Europe) confirmed a Memorandum of Understanding for strengthen the relationship between sport and media with the European Weightlifting Federation (EWF) during the Executive Committee Meeting held in Istanbul from 9 to 11 March, 2023.

 

Following the agreement, the EWF and AIPS Europe will work together to promote weightlifting throughout Europe, boosting media coverage and reaching broader audiences. Together, the two groups will endeavor to promote sports and raise the visibility of the weightlifting sport. EWF EB member Jesmond Caruana, EWF Athletes Commission Chairman  will coordinate the common activities between the two groups.

The list of male and female athletes for the 2022 Best European Weightlifter Awards was also approved by the EWF during the EB Meeting. The Award Ceremony, which will be organized by EWF and AIPS Europe together, will be a memorable moment that will take place during the Opening Ceremony of the 2023 EWF European Championships, on the 14 th April, 2023, in Yerevan, Armenia. 

By combining the experiences and capabilities of the EWF and the AIPS Europe, the partnership will create new chances and projects for the growth of weightlifting and sports media relations. The two bodies have agreed to cooperate for the welfare of the weightlifting community and the advancement of sports in Europe.

AIPS was established in Paris, in 1924, as L’Association Internationale de la Presse Sportive, by Games Press Chief, Frantz Reichel, and the Belgian, Victor Boin. The officially approved abbreviation of the name of the Association is AIPS and its headquarters are based in the Olympic capital Lausanne, Switzerland. With more than 9,500 members worldwide, the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) is the leading professional organization that represents the global sports media.

The EWF is pleased to work together with such a prestigious organization.
