A delegation from the city of Nengho (CHN), which will host the Senior World Weightlifting Championships in 2026, recently visited the French Weightlifting Federation (FFHM) headquarters. This visit marks a continuation of the growing Franco-Chinese cooperation, fostering a privileged, regular, and friendly relationship between the two federations. After welcoming the Chinese delegation back from Qatar last December, the French national Olympic team is currently training in China to prepare for Paris 2024.
Philippe Geiss presented the selection system implemented by the DTN and the operations of various centers. The delegation also viewed a video showcasing the “haltero-tour” in France and the pedagogical model of physical education sessions in schools.
Michel RAYNAUD, President of the FFHM, returned to the subject of the Olympic Games that will be organized in France, which should serve as a driving force for the development of weightlifting.
“Obviously, we want our French weightlifters to be the best performers, despite the competition from top nations such as China. So we’re working alongside you to meet this expectation; the Games must also be a popular celebration. We are working hard to create the magic around the Games, to celebrate the Games, to organize moments of sharing like today”, President RAYNAUD said.
