We bid farewell to the remarkable David Pirie Webster OBE, who left an indelible mark on the world through his efforts as an author, historian, sports promoter, and administrator.
In the realm of weightlifting, David Webster’s contributions were immeasurable. He held the esteemed position of Scottish Weightlifting Chairman and also served as the Scottish weightlifting national coach, referee, and competitor. His remarkable journey took him to the 1960, 1968, and 1972 Olympic Games as well as numerous World and European Championships. Moreover, he also served Commonwealth Games Scotland firstly as its Chairman then honorary Life President.
David’s passion for Highland Games was unmatched, having been the Chief Organiser of the Highland Games in Largs for over 50 years.
David Pirie Webster OBE will indeed be remembered for his contribution and promotion of strength sport.
