MALTA – The EWF is thrilled to announce the 13th Mediterranean Weightlifting Cup, combined with the Electoral Congress & Malta International Open. The event is scheduled to take place from the 6th to the 8th of October 2023.
The competition will adhere to the rules set by the Mediterranean Weightlifting Confederation. Teams will consist of six athletes, split evenly between men and women. The results will be based on the Sinclair form, with teams accumulating the highest points emerging as winners. Notably, athletes born in 2010 and before are eligible to compete.
The event will kick off with the MWC Electoral Congress on the 7th of October at 9:00 am, held at the Regency Hall, Sliema.
Awards will be presented to teams and individual athletes. Trophies will be given to the top three teams overall, as well as separate awards for the top men’s and women’s teams. Individual athletes will be recognized based on Sinclair points, with gold, silver, and bronze medals awarded to the top three performers. All other participants will receive a medal for their participation.
The Malta Weightlifting Association (MWA) deserves commendation for its exemplary efforts in organizing the 13th Mediterranean Weightlifting Cup & Malta International Open. Such initiatives by the MWA not only elevate the stature of weightlifting within Malta but also significantly contribute to the advancement and recognition of the sport across Europe.
