Bucharest, 3rd August 2023 – The final day of the EWF European Junior and U23 Championships brought forth an exhibition of sheer strength, tenacity, and athletic prowess. The echo of roaring applause filled the venue, honoring the athletes’ admirable performances and the crowning of the day’s champions.

Setting the tone for the day, the Men’s Junior +109kg group saw Turkiyes Ali Oflaz clinch the coveted gold, showcasing an astounding display of strength. His compatriot, Onur Demirci, seized the silver, with Slovakia’s Vladimir Macura securing the bronze. Their performances echoed the competition’s spirit, solidifying an unforgettable start to the day.

The Women’s U23 +87kg category witnessed an extraordinary victory by Sarah Fischer from Austria. Meri Tumasyan of Armenia claimed the silver, with Erla Agustsdottir of Iceland capturing the bronze. The athletes showcased an exceptional blend of strength and finesse, adding to the day’s excitement.

Closing the competition, the Men’s U23 +109kg group turned out to be a thrilling contest. Tornike Tabatadze of Georgia reigned supreme, claiming the gold, with Ragnar Holme of Norway and Mikheil Adamia, also from Georgia, securing the silver and bronze respectively.

As the curtain came down on this year’s championship, it was evident that it was more than just a competition. It was a celebration of dedication, determination, and the human spirit. The past nine days have been a testament to the athletes’ hard work and an ode to the sport’s unyielding charm.
