Records Broken and Outstanding Performances Mark Day 1 of the 2023 EWF European Youth and U15 Championships

Chisinau, 02.07.2023 – The eagerly anticipated 2023 EWF European Youth and U15 Championships kicked off with a spectacular start at the Chisinau Arena. The first day of competition witnessed an impressive display of talent, as young weightlifters showcased their skills and set new records.
In the Women U15 40kg category, the audience witnessed an outstanding performance by Sevval INCE from Türkiye, who claimed the gold medal with a remarkable total of 115kg. Giulia ZOLA from Italy secured the silver medal with a total of 100kg, closely followed by Aleksandra NIKOLOVA from Bulgaria, who won the bronze medal with a total of 99kg.
Continuing the display of excellence, the Women U15 45kg category saw a gripping competition. MALASHCHUK from Ukraine emerged victorious, with an impressive total of 142kg. Boyana KOSTADINOVA from Bulgaria secured the silver medal with a total of 141kg, while Kim CAMILLERI LAGANA from Malta claimed the bronze medal with a total of 131kg.
In the Women U15 49kg category, Maria STRATOUDAKI from Greece showcased exceptional strength and technique, clinching the gold medal with an impressive total of 160kg. Alexia Diana SIPOS from Romania secured the silver medal with a total of 147kg, closely followed by Evelyn GOMEZ SOSA from Spain, who won the bronze medal with a total of 141kg.
Meanwhile, in the Men YO 49kg category, the crowd was treated to an exhilarating competition. Dzan ZARKOV from Bulgaria emerged victorious, setting a new standard with a total of 187kg, earning him the gold medal. Ettore Antonio PILATO from Italy showcased his skills and claimed the silver medal with a total of 186kg, while Karlen DAVTYAN from Armenia secured the bronze medal with a total of 181kg.
These outstanding performances by young weightlifters left the audience in awe and demonstrated the immense potential within the sport. The Moldova Weightlifting Federation deserves special recognition for hosting a successful opening day of the championships.
