The EWF Congress held on April 13th, 2023, in the charming city of Yerevan, Armenia, with 36 EWF Member Federations in attendance. During the meeting, the President’s, General Secretary’s, Treasurer’s, and EWF Committees and Commissions’ reports and activity plans were ratified. A new EWF Constitution, designed in accordance with the IWF Constitution, with athletes represented on the EWF Executive Board, was adopted.

The Congress was presided over by Kt. Antonio Conflitti, EWF President, and to Congress was addressed by Mr. Arayik Harutyunyan, Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister, Mr. Karen Giloyan, Deputy Minister, IWF President Mohammed Jaloud, IWF General Secretary Dr. Antonio Urso and EWF General Secretary Dr. Milan Mihajlovic.

Eleiko representatives presented Mr. Arayik Harutyunyan, Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister, with a protocol gift.

In addition to completing all of the agenda items, the EWF Congress was highlighted by a unique time dedicated to the award of some EWF Distinctions to individuals and organizations for their important contributions to the sport of weightlifting:

The event was completed by the signature of an MoU between EWF and AIPS Europe, followed by the presentation of all nominated weightlifters for the EWF – AIPS Europe Weightlifter of the Year 2022 award.

The announcement of the 2022 Best European Weightlifters will take place during the Opening Ceremony of the 2023 European Championships.

AIPS Europe President Charles Camenzuli presented honors to the EWF President and General Secretary.

The meeting concluded with Eleiko’s introduction of their activities.

The EWF President wished all Member Federations good luck and concluded the meeting.

Previously, on April 12, 2023, the EWF Executive Board met in Yerevan and ratified all EWF Reports.
