It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of Mr. Rolf MAIER at the age of 86. 

He was and will remain a great figure of French weightlifting. Three times selected at the Olympic Games (1960, 1964 and 1968), he was bronze medallist in the 75kg class at the 1965 European Championships. 

Technical advisor in his region of Picardy, he brought Daniel SENET to the title of world champion in the snatch in 1981 in Lille (Fr.)

The information of Rolf Maier’s passing saddened EWF. He enjoyed great popularity throughout Europe and French weightlifting.
EWF sends sincere condolences to the Rolf’s family at this trying time, as well as to the French Weightlifting Federation.
