LIFTERS OF THE YEAR: Loredana TOMA and Lasha TALAKHADZE
The European Weightlifting Federation is very happy to announce that its first online poll for the nomination of the 2021 BEST WEIGHTLIFTER OF THE YEAR for female and male athletes is now closed and the winners are Loredana Toma, the Romanian triple Senior Continental champion and record breaker in snatch in the 64 category in Moscow last year’s championships, with 1629 votes, and Lasha Talakhadze, also known as the “world’s strongest man”, from Georgia, European, World and Olympic champion in 2021 and records holder in snatch, clean and jerk and total in the +109 category, with 4750 votes.
An impressive interest of weightlifting lovers was registered in the ten days elections, with more than 8600 appreciations validated through the dedicated platform for both categories.
The award ceremony for the winners of the EWF 2021 BEST WEIGHTLIFTER OF THE YEAR is planned to take place during the Opening Ceremony of the 100th Edition of the European Senior Championships on 27th of May 2022, in Tirana – Albania.
