The first day of IWF elections included the election of President, General Secretary, First Vice President, two Vice Presidents and twelve Executive Board members.The incumbent IWF President Mohammed Jalood secured his second term in office in a unanimous vote. Neither Campbell nor Lalayan started until everybody else had finished, and both won by more than 30kg. Lalayan declined his final two attempts after opening on 240kg in clean and jerk. Within six minutes he had taken the snatch world record from Lesman Paredes, and with the last of his six good lifts he bettered the record on total, which had been set six and a half years ago by Sohrab Moradi. Genna Toko Kegne won the women’s 76kg for a second time.
