As part of the 500-day countdown to the 10th Francophonie Games 2027, which will take place in Yerevan from July 23 to August 1, 2027, a meeting was held this Wednesday, March 11, at the Ministry of Sports. In attendance were Ms. Marina Ferrari, Minister of Sports; Mr. Thibaut Despres, Head of the French Delegation; and Mr. Christophe Gigaudaut, Delegate for Francophone Affairs at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. The French Weightlifting Federation (FFHM) was represented by Michel Raynaud, President, and Philippe Geiss, National Technical Director.

The call for applications is currently open: 79 applications received to date, 10 sports disciplines will be represented: Athletics, Para-athletics, 3×3 Basketball (new), 3×3 Wheelchair Basketball (new), Football, Judo, Weightlifting (new), Table Tennis, Breaking (new), Chess (new)

Regarding the technical organization of Weightlifting in collaboration with the Armenian Weightlifting Federation and the IWF, the competition will take place over 5 days.

The 8 IWF weight categories for men and women, according to IWF regulations. Athletes must be between 18 and 35 years old on the day of the competition. A maximum of 8 men + 8 women and 2 athletes per weight category.

Conditions: Hold a valid IWF license and present a valid international health booklet and a medical certificate of physical fitness for the sport of weightlifting.

Registration for the weightlifting events takes place in three stages:

  • Quantitative registrations (quota validation): until February 28, 2027;
  • Individual registrations (long list): until April 28, 2027;
  • Final nominative registrations (short list): June 28, 2027.

The organizing committee will get back to us before the summer to share the new information received from the International Committee of the Francophonie Games (CIJF) and the National Committee (CNJF).
