Following the election of Dr. Peter Nagy, 3 times Olympian as President on 29 March 2025, the Hungarian Weightlifting Federation (HWF) held its Congress on 10 May 2025 to elect the Executive Board members for the term 2025 – 2028.
The delegates elected all 9 EB members, including Attila Adamfi, IWF Vice President, who was elected as HWF Vice President. Dr. Adam Safian was elected as the other Vice President while the following EB members were also elected:
– Istvan Juhasz
– Norbert Komonyi
– Csaba Kovacs
– Gabriella Mathe
– Jozsef Szeles
– Peter Tamtom
– Gabor Vaspori
The newly established EB started its work right after the Congress, and at its first meeting, appointing Akos Nagy (junior World Champion in 1997) as General Secretary.
Among others, the head coach has been appointed, new structure of the Committees has been approved and working groups to develop a Strategic Plan and review the regulations have also been established.
President Peter Nagy stated: ‘We count on and need all our athletes, clubs, member organizations, and professionals to renew the sport. I believe that with this team, with conscious and hard work, we can achieve our common goals, renew, and elevate Hungarian weightlifting again. I would like to thank everyone for their trust, the work has started, we know what we have to do, and we are doing our job. We continue to count on everyone who really wants to do something for the sport.’
