The Technical Committee of the European Weightlifting Federation held on Monday, September 30, 2024, the first two ITO’s training sessions of the new on-line seminar’s series presented and moderated by TC Chairwoman and Vice-President Tina Beiter and TC Member Patrik Helgesson, through the Zoom platform.
The first meeting was enjoyed by a peak of 100 participating international technical officials from all over the world, which raises even more the interest and importance of this initiative, launched in 2023 by EWF, in the same format.
The two EWF TC representatives presented in detail the very important roles of the Technical Controller and Chief Marshal.
The presentations were not only related to the content of the IWF Technical Rules and Regulations, but also shared the responsibilities of these positions from the point of view of managing unusual or tense situations during competitions. Competition Marshal sheets were also presented to generate even more interest from those present, and situations of maximum intensity and the fight for places on the podium by some teams participating in the European Championships were simulated.
The sessions are all the more interesting, taking into account the fact that they are held interactively and the participants can ask questions and receive live feedback, using the application’s chat platform an even at the first meeting, constructive questions and observations did not take long to appear.
The session was opened by the messages of Chairwoman Tina Beiter, EWF General Secretary Dr. Milan Mihajlovic and EWF President Antonio Conflitti, who congratulated the TC for resuming this training program and wished success to all participating referees.
The second EWF TC webinar meeting will take place on 03 October 2024, starting at 19:00 CET, when Tryggve Duun, EWF TC Member, and Tina Beiter, EWF TC Chairwomen will interactively present new material on the role and responsibilities of the Referee.
Congratulations, good luck to all the ITOs on the future duties and see you at the next meeting!
