On September 6 and 7, 2024, the Slovak Weightlifting Federation together with the sports club from the town of Štúrovo hosted a new weightlifting competition open to participants from several countries, the 21st edition of the Memorial dedicated to the former well-known weightlifter Miloš Zelinka.
Miloš Zelinka was the pioneer of weightlifting in the small town of Štúrovo, in present- days Slovakia, which lies on the border between Slovakia and Hungary. Zelinka was a holder of Czechoslovak records, an official and an international technical official who has attended continental and world weightlifting competitions.
55 competitors (male and females) from 5 countries SVK, CZE, POL, HUN and CRO attended the tournament in all age categories. The rankings in the different sessions were determined by the Sinclair calculation system points and among the athletes who stood out was the Croatian athlete Ivona Gavran, this being the first female athlete of Croatian weightlifting who managed to snatch 100 Kg and registered 115 kg in the clean and jerk, finishing with 215 kg in total, all the three results being now new national records in Croatia.

The European Weightlifting Federation sends sincere congratulations to the Slovakian Weightlifting Federation and its leadership for general activity and for the fact that in just a few weeks it managed to organize two competitions that offered the opportunity to weightlifters from several neighboring countries and not only to show their talent and ambition to perform in our sport.
