Starting with August 25, 40 participants from 9 European countries (AZE, DEN, IRL, LAT, LTU, NED, FIN, CZE and POL) are taking part these days in the EWF Youth training camp organized in Ventspils, a port town in the west of Latvia.

The annual meeting is coordinated by the Coaching, Research, and Scientific Committee of the European Weightlifting Federation takes place, this year, between August 25 and 31 in the “Ventspils Olympic Complex”, one of the most prestigious and high-level sports bases in Latvia.

The participants were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome of the hosts from the Latvian Weightlifting Federation and from the administration of the Olympic Complex, facilitated the official opening, on August 26, during an impressive concert, also organized on the occasion of the official opening of the new “Latvia Concerts Hall” in Ventspils.

An impressive and elegant show that proposed performances of three instruments: piano, organ, and upright piano, this being the tallest vertical piano in the world with a height of 4.7 meters. Definitely an unforgettable show for all the participants in the EWF action, marked by the start of the weightlifting week launched by Jurgus Liepanieks, CEO of the Olympic Center Ventspils, and Dr. Milan Mihajlovic, EWF General Secretary.

The young and talented weightlifters from the EWF family, who are these days in Ventspils, will benefit from an intense program based on two diversified training sessions per day and the expertise of three lecturers and trainers: Eduards Andruskevics, Damjan Canzek, and Viktors Scerbatihs, all these developed under the coordination of EWF CRSC Chairman, Colin Buckley.

The main goal of the annual EWF Youth training camp actions is to increase the the technical value of young weightlifters in the perspective of their promotion towards high performance, but also to create a network of exchange of experience and opportunities face to face, accessing the best sports facilities, like those from the Complex in Ventspils.
