2026 European Junior & U23 Weightlifting Championships will take place in Durrës from 12 to 19 October 2026, with the FAFA Hotel serving as the official competition venue.
Durrës has become one of Europe’s most recognizable weightlifting destinations, earning a reputation for its excellent organization and warm hospitality. The European weightlifting family will return to Durrës for the fifth time to stage the European Junior & U23 Championships, following the successful editions held in 2008, 2017, 2022, and 2025. The FAFA Hotel, as an accommodation hub, had also successfully hosted the 2023 IWF World Youth Championships, further demonstrating its capability to organize world-class sporting events.
Together with the confirmation that Antalya, Türkiye, will host the 2027 European Senior Weightlifting Championships from 11 to 18 April 2027, the European Weightlifting Federation has now secured two outstanding venues for its flagship events.
Both Durrës and Antalya have a distinguished history of organizing major international weightlifting competitions and have consistently demonstrated the highest organizational standards.
The EWF is confident that the experience and renowned hospitality of both host nations will ensure two exceptional championships, further strengthening the development and promotion of weightlifting across Europe.
