On November 10, 2024, the Electoral Assembly of the Albanian Weightlifting Federation was held in Shkodër. Mr. Fidel Ylli, President of the Albanian National Olympic Committee, was in attendance, as was Dr. Astrit Hasani, Treasurer of the European Weightlifting Federation and EWF representative.
During the election, Mr. Asim Belinovi and the current President, Mr. Elez Gjoza, competed for the presidency. Mr. Gjoza was re-elected President of the Federation with an amazing 95% of the votes cast. Furthermore, the Assembly chose a new Executive Board consisting of the following members:

- Mr. Leonard Toska
- Mr. Asim Belinov
- Mr. Arben Qafa
- Mr. Endri Karina
- Mr. Ilir Bunzi
Albania has successfully hosted several major EWF and IWF events in recent years under the leadership of Mr. Elez Gjoza. Additionally, this year marked the Balkan Weightlifting Federation’s founding Congress in Golem, at which Mr. Gjoza was elected as its first president. Looking ahead, the European Junior and U23 Championships will be staged in Tirana next year. This year, Albania not only won medals in the European Senior Championships, but also at the World and European Championships for youth and junior age groups in León, Thessaloniki, and Raszyn. These accomplishments highlight the national federation’s remarkable organization and continuous dedication to developing talent at all ages.
