Today, 31 December 2025, the Executive Board of the European Weightlifting Federation held its last official meeting for 2025 and took important decisions regarding the 2026 competition calendar.The EWF Executive Board decided to cancel the 2026 European Junior & U23 Weightlifting Championships, which were scheduled to take place in Poland. The Malta Weightlifting Association successfully hosted, 5-7 December 2025, the European Union Cup and the Malta International Junior Open Championship at the newly inaugurated facility within the Marsa Sports Complex. These twin events brought together athletes from 21 countries, competing across three age categories, Under 15, Under 17, and Under 20 — for both boys and girls. As part of the programme, a technical seminar for athletes, coaches, and officials was held in Sliema, led by Dr. Milan Mihajlovic. After a break of three decades, the Balkan Weightlifting Championships were successfully reintroduced at the beginning of December in Durrës, Albania, fully aligned with all IWF standards.On 1 December, the Executive Board Meeting and the Regular Congress of the Balkan Weightlifting Federation were convened.
