The Italian Weightlifting Federation mourns the passing of Paola Tripodi, who passed away last night. A longtime international referee, Paola honored the federation at the highest levels, distinguishing herself in every context with her expertise, integrity, and absolute dedication. A brilliant and tireless career, which began in 1989 as a regional referee and culminated in 2002 with her qualification as an International Category 1 referee, saw her present at the most important moments in Italian and world weightlifting, always bringing with her a human value, even before her technical expertise.
FIPE President Alberto Miglietta, on behalf of the entire Federation, General Secretary Francesco Bonincontro, on behalf of the Federal Secretariat, and Massimo Grassi, on behalf of the National Competition Officials Commission and all the referees who were fortunate enough to share competitions, sacrifices, and great satisfaction with her, extend their heartfelt condolences to her husband, Antonio Laganà, and all of Paola’s family in this moment of immense grief. Her memory, her professionalism, and her example will forever remain in the hearts of the great Italian weightlifting family.
EWF expresses its heartfelt condolences to the Tripodi family and FIPE. We will remember Paola Tripodi as a superb professional — always punctual and possessing extensive knowledge of weightlifting — but above all, as a wonderful human being. Paola will be deeply missed.
