Day 7 of the 2026 EWF European Championships in Batumi produced one of the tightest battles of the week, with Armenia’s Garik Karapetyan taking the men’s 110 kg title by a single kilo after a high-level duel that stayed alive until the very end.

The category was already on fire in the snatch. Romania’s Luis Lauret Rodriguez finished first with 195 kg which is now the new European Senior record, while Bulgaria’s Hristo Hristov followed on 190 kg and Karapetyan took 189 kg

But the clean & jerk changed the order once again. Karapetyan was the best, making 226 kg to move to 415 kg total and seal the gold. Lauret Rodriguez stayed right with him and finished second on 414 kg, while Hristov completed the podium with 412 kg. Just three kilos separated the top three lifters in the final standings.
