At the EWF Congress held on February 17, 2024 in Sofia, on the initiative of EWF President Antonio Conflitti, the EWF Historical Commission was officially established.

The Commission plays an active role in preserving and promoting the rich history of European weightlifting. Among its notable activities are:

  • Reprint of the inaugural EWF Bulletin from 1969.
  • Publication of the Danube Cup results book, covering the period from 1961 to 1996.
  • Development of a comprehensive database of European Championships results, which will be partly made available on the EWF website starting from April 2025.

The EWF has compiled an extensive collection of results, collecting 76 years of European Championships, men’s competitions (1948–2024) and 36 years of women’s competitions (1988–2024). These records will be systematically presented to provide a complete and accessible database for athletes, coaches, sports authorities, journalists, marketing professionals, historians, and university students.

At this moment, we are pleased to present the EWF Annual Book for 2024, which includes:

  • Results of European weightlifters who competed at the European and World Championships.
  • Overview of National Federation participation in EWF and IWF events.
  • Ranking lists for all age groups and bodyweight categories for both men and women.
  • European records as of December 31, 2024.

The EWF Annual Book 2024 has been meticulously compiled by Zbigniew Gorlewski (POL), a member of the EWF Historical & Statistical Commission, with co-authorship by Prof. Dr. Milan Mihajlovic (SRB), General Secretary of the European Weightlifting Federation. Their work was conducted in cooperation with Monika Kalas-Paterek (POL), Gerhard Peya (AUT), Siegfried Steinmeir (Austria), and Karel Prohl (CZE).

We hope that the EWF Annual Book 2024 serves as a valuable resource for evaluating the achievements of European weightlifters and contributes to the ongoing documentation of the sport’s history.
