The Executive Board of the Kosovo Olympic Committee, at its first meeting of the 2025–2028 Olympic cycle on 19 February 2025, unanimously approved NOC President Ismet Krasniqi’s proposal to appoint Dr. Astrit Hasani as Adviser for International Relations.
Dr. Hasani, President of the Weightlifting Federation of Kosovo, serving as Treasurer of the European Weightlifting Federation and a member of its Executive Board since 2016. He has the full support of the Kosovo Olympic Committee in all his activities.
Dr. Hasani holds a master’s degree from the prestigious University of Cambridge and a doctorate from the University of Warsaw. He is widely recognized within the International Weightlifting Federation for his firm stance that sport is over politics.
Along with his responsibilities in weightlifting governance, he was entrusted CEO position in charge of organizing the 2022 IWF Election Congress in Tirana, Albania. The Albanian Excellence organization later presented him with the Grand Excellence Award in recognition of his service.
For his significant contributions to European weightlifting, Dr. Hasani was awarded the Gold Star, the highest EWF Award in the sport, at the EWF Congress in Warsaw, Poland, in 2024.
