Zdzisław Żołopa was elected President of the Polish Weightlifting Federation (PZPC) for a four-year term. The election of new President and new Management Board of PZPC took place on 19 December 2024 in Warsaw with 87 delegates present (100 percent turnout). Before the election, Żołopa served as vice president of PZPC for Organization Planning. The new board of the Polish Weightlifting Federation consists of 15 members. With 5 women amongst them, it is an unprecedented story in European weightlifting.

The new President of PZPC is an IWF Category 1 Technical Official, officiating at the highest level including the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. As a former athlete, Żołopa was a member of the Polish national weightlifting team in the 1980s. From now, he will represent PZPC on the Polish Olympic Committee (PKOl).

“We will cooperate with EWF and IWF”, Żołopa said. “In 2025, Polish weightlifting will be celebrating its centenary. One hundred years of a beautiful history, everyone is invited to celebrate with us! To all my friends at EWF, I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year”.
