The President of the International Weightlifting Federation, Mr. Mohamed Jalood, visited this week the “Centrum Sportu Raszyn” Sports Complex, where between October 26 and November 3, 2024, the European Championships reserved for athletes of the Junior and U23 age categories are taking place.
President Jalood was more than satisfied with the infrastructure and the organization of the Polish Weightlifting Federation, which hosts in partnership with EWF, this continental competition, which gathers in Poland, around 450 athletes from 35 countries on our continent.
The presence of the IWF leader in Raszyn is the confirmation of the support and attention that the International Federation gives to our Continental Federation.
Within the competition venue, Mohamed Jalood gave a speech about the very good context of weightlifting worldwide, also mentioning the good relationship with the International Olympic Committee and its management, the measures taken to increase the number of Olympic Categories at the next edition of the Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028, the satisfaction of having concluded a new edition of the Olympic Games, this year’s in Paris, without positive doping cases, he spoke about the establishment of the first Weightlifting Museum, inaugurated on October 16, 2024, in Shilong Town CHN, with the occasion of the first celebration of the World Weightlifting Day and last but not least, he congratulated the EWF and the Host Federation of the continental competition for the organization and good activity, in general.
“Recently, we have celebrated the inaugural World Weightlifting Day 2024. This comes exactly one year after the historic decision of the IOC, on October 16, 2023, to confirm the inclusion of our Sport in the program of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games and on this occasion, I had the great pleasure to be in China and to inaugurate the first museum in the world dedicated to weightlifting. It is an amazing concept and structure, which is surely promoting in the best possible way the extraordinary performances and successful tradition of the Chinese athletes and not only. Very soon, we will ask all the Continental Federation to contribute with some item that can be loaned or donated to the museum to be exhibited”, stated Mr. Jalood.
The EWF President and General Secretary invited Mr. Mohamed Jalood to the competition stage to present him with the limited series EWF 55 th Anniversary watch and medal.

The IWF President continued his journey to another European country, Portugal, where he attends the XXVIII GENERAL ASSEMBLY of the Association of National Olympic Committees on October, 30 and 31 and other work sessions.
