On October 5, 2024, the Portugal Weightlifting Federation held elections for its Executive board for the next four years, from 2025 to 2028. Vítor Estêvão was re-elected as President with 90.9% of the vote, demonstrating widespread support. This overwhelming vote underscores NF members’ confidence in the vision and leadership that the federation has developed over the years.
Along with the President’s re-election, several new members were elected to crucial posts, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas to complement existing activities. Sónia Ramalho has been elected as the next General Secretary, with José Luz serving as Vice-President. We also welcomed a newly elected Treasurer and President of the Refereeing Council, both of whom bring great experience to the Portugal Weightlifting Federation.
The newly formed board is poised to build on the solid basis that has already been laid and lead Portuguese weightlifting into a new era, with a strong emphasis on stability. The Federation is eager to engage with athletes, coaches, and stakeholders as it strives to further develop the weightlifting sport, promote equality, and inspire future generations of lifters.
EWF reminds us that as of the start of 2023, the Portugal Weightlifting Federation has been re-established as an active member of the European Weightlifting Federation and has since carried out many initiatives.
EWF congratulates the elected members of the Portugal Weightlifting Federation and wishes them success in the future period.
