On October 1, 2024, 28 European coaches attended a Zoom session organized by IWF, in which Europe led among the continents in participating in the IWF pilot program for Coaching licensing. EWF CRSC has shown strong activity and readiness to engage in all IWF programs.
The lecturer was well-known IWF CRSC member Kyle Pierce, who addressed the topic of contemporary weightlifting training. This seminar focused on the knowledge needed in the trainer licensing process, a critical activity that will be introduced on January 1st, 2025.
The lecture covered numerous aspects of the training process, and it was evident that training requires a multidisciplinary approach and knowledge.
We witnessed a continuation of education for EWF member federations, this time for coaches, following the previous day’s seminar for ITOs. The idea is to establish a minimum level for coaches who intend to operate worldwide, and the seminar that led us to the coaching licensing procedure provided an opportunity for international cooperation and networking in addition to the process of coaching registration.
The seminar was opened by Petr Krol, IWF Vice President, and IWF CRSC Chairman, accompanied by Colin Buckley, EWF EB Member and EWF CRSC Chairman, and Timea Horvat, IWF Development and Education Manager.
Four Zoom sessions are planned, the next one is scheduled for October 15th, and the final live gathering of trainers is planned for November 22-23rd in Bucharest, Romania. The Romania Weightlifting Federation will set the stage for such a significant workshop, demonstrating abilities and variety in their practice.
