On the 16 September, the 2024 Oceanian Weightlifting Federation’s Electoral Congress was held in Suva, Fiji.
The OWF had the honor of the presence of the President of the IWF, Mr. Mohamed Jalood and the President of PANAM, Mr. Jose Quinones.
The elections went as follows:
1. The Hon. Marcus Stephen (Nauru) was re-elected in the position of President of the OWF.
2. Paul Coffa (Australia) was unopposed and declared the General Secretary of the OWF.
3. The 1st Vice President re-elected was Jerry Wallwork from Samoa.
The three Vice President positions:
• Della Shaw Elder (Fiji) was re elected unopposed.
• Luisa Peters (Cook Islands) – re elected to the position and the newly elected Vice President was:
• Dika Toua (Papua New Guinea) – newly elected.
The three Executive Board Members elected were:
• John Davis from Northern Marianas re-elected.
• Simone Pritchard from Vanuatu – newly elected.
• Edgar Molinos from Guam – re-elected.
Lilly Coffa from Australia was reappointed as the Assistant Secretary.
Committee Chairpersons were:
• Medical – Dr. Moni Kami and Dr James Elwin
• Technical – Sam Coffa,
• Masters – Coral Quinell,
• Women Development – Lilly Coffa
The IWF President, Mohamed Jalood congratulated the OWF Executive Board and spoke very highly of the achievement and the unity of the continent of Oceania in the last few years. Especially in the area of Anti-Doping where the Oceania continent is leading the war against doping as we move in to almost 18 years without any adverse analysis.
Mr. Jalood was made the Patron of the Oceania Weightlifting Federation.
The EWF President Antonio Conflitti and General Secretary Milan Mihajlovic address their sincere congratulations also on behalf on the EWF Executive Board to the re- elected and newly elected members of the OWF Executive Board, emphasizing the very good relations between the two continents and the intention to strengthen international relations even more for a common and sustainable development of weightlifting on an international level.
