The 43rd European Small Nations Tournament was held from November 3 to 6, 2022, at Sports Arena Spyros Kyprianou in Limassol (CYP).

It was superbly organized, with nearly 50 participants from nine countries.

The event began with a seminar on anti-doping (Denise Offermann), weightlifting injuries (Dr Mike Irani), and technical rules (Milan Mihajlovic).

Cyprus (1393 points) won the 43rd European Small Nations Tournament, followed by Iceland (1382,86), Malta (1382,16), Monaco, San Marino, and Luxembourg. The difference between second and third place was only 0.70 points, demonstrating how exciting and dramatic the competition was.

THORNTON Tenishia of Malta was the best female weightlifter, followed by UNNARSDOTTIR Ulfhildur Arna of Iceland and TABONE Roberta of Malta. MARTASIDIS Antonis of Cyprus was the best male weightlifter, followed by EINARSSON Gerald Brimir of Iceland and CONSTANTINOU Andreas of Cyprus.

43rd European Small Nations Tournament – Best lifter

The winner of the 2nd International OPAP Trophy, which included also participants from the non-European Small Nations Federation, was Germany, followed by Greece team 1, Greece team 2, and so on.

VIOL Laura from Germany was the best female weightlifter, and CHRYSOCHOIDIS Alexandros from Germany was the best male weightlifter.

Greece won the fourth Cyprus & Greece Friendship Trophy, followed by Cyprus.

Thank you Cyprus Weightlifting Federation, Andreas Roumbas and Denise Offermann and President of Small Nations Weightlifting Federation, Jesmon Caruana for a magnificent event, it was fantastic competition that exemplified friendship, fair play, and a love and passion for weightlifting.

The 2023 competition’s edition will be held in Luxembourg.
