The 2022 European Junior and U23 Championships, currently being held in Durres, Albania, has started very successfully. After three competition days, we have seen several new European and World records.

In the second session of the competition, the excellent Mihaela Valentina Cambei (ROU), competing in the 49kg category, set three new Junior European records with the result of 87kg in Snatch, 102kg in Clean and Jerk, and a Total of 189kg.

On day 2, we saw an amazing performance by Nina Sterckx (BEL), who previously won the 2022 IWF Junior World Championships and competed at the Tokyo Olympic Games. Sterckx set the new Junior European and World records in the 55kg body weight category, with the result of 118kg in Clean and Jerk, and 213kg in Total.

Another fantastic result was seen in the Women’s U23 59kg category, where Kamila Konotop (UKR), 2021 Junior European and World Champion, and 2022 Senior European Vice-champion, set a new U23 European record in Snatch, by lifting 104kg.

We are looking forward to more excellent performances during this competition.
