Thornton Tenishia, won the Female Youth Athlete of the Year Award at the 62nd edition of the SPORTMALTA Awards.
Tenishia Thornton Maltese weightlifter finished sixth in the IWF World Rankings last year at the age of 16.
Despite being the youngest athlete in the tournament, she earned a bronze medal in the Commonwealth Senior Championships in Tashkent.
She holds two Commonwealth Records in the Snatch and Total events and is Malta’s top overall athlete.
This was Thornton’s second year in a row winning this award in this category.
