The Members of the EWF Executive Board met in a productive online Meeting on Tuesday, during which important decisions of the Continental Federation’s Agenda were deliberated.

In addition to reaching the current points regarding the reporting of the work and plan of activities of the EWF President, General Secretary, Treasurer, Technical and Auditors Committees, and Fair Play Commission, the Executive Board reallocated this year’s European Youth and U15 Championships to the Polish Weightlifting Federation, which will organize the competition for the youngest weightlifters in Europe in the beautiful city of Raszyn. The 2023 European Senior Championships were assigned to the Armenian Weightlifting Federation, which will host the most important continental competition, which will be also the Olympic Qualification Event for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, in Yerevan in April.

The European Youth and U15 Championships were reallocated to Poland, following the revocation of the right to host this competition in Kazan RUS, while the favorable opinion for the Yerevan Senior European Championships was also supported by the very good impressions following the official and fruitful visit of the EWF President and General Secretary in the Armenian capital city, in March this year.

Among the most important items on the agenda discussed and approved at the meeting of the continental body’s leadership, were the evaluation of the situation of the weightlifting teams from Ukraine that will participate in the European Championships in Albania in May and fund allocation for them, the analysis of the possibility of concluding a broadcasting contract and EWF TV rights for the upcoming Continental Senior Championships and future senior events, the allocation of support funds for the traditional tournaments on our continent, respectively 2022 Alpe Adria International Tournament and 2022 Visegrad 4 Cup, as well as the launch of the 2021 EWF Best Weightlifter Award campaign for at least two award categories. The trophies will be awarded during the 2022 European Senior Championships in a dedicated ceremony. All the information related to the selection procedures will be published soon.

An important commitment made by the EWF EB was related to the continuation of the steps and programs undertaken to promote the anti-doping and fair play activities and values in the weightlifting community, as well as the support of all digital and social media projects for the development and promotion of the EWF activity.

The urgent steps taken to provide Member Federations and the weightlifting community, in general, with the new EWF website and the new EWF Easy Entry platform were highly appreciated.

The EWF will also take all necessary steps to update the Constitution and bring it into line with the latest approved version of the IWF Constitution.
