The International Coach Licence (ICL) Coach Education & Development Pathway 2025–2028 Webinar was successfully conducted with the participation of 89 attendees from across the international weightlifting community.
The webinar was formally opened with welcoming addresses by IWF President Mohamed Jaloud, EWF President Dr. Astrit Hasani, and Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation President Kamran Nabizade.
Organized by the European Weightlifting Olympic Academy, headquartered in Baku, this event marked the inaugural activity of the newly established Academy. Its launch represents a significant step in the continuing efforts to enhance education, professional development, and the overall promotion of weightlifting worldwide.
The creation of the Academy follows a period of notable progress for the weightlifting, including its return on the Olympic Games programme, the introduction of two new bodyweight categories, and a series of positive reforms aimed at ensuring long-term growth and credibility.
The webinar featured a structured programme addressing key areas of coach education and practice, including:
- The ICL Development & Education Pathway
- Anti-Doping
- Common Injuries in Weightlifting
- Athletes’ Card, Marshals’ Table, Challenge Card, and TCRRs
Participants were given the opportunity to engage directly with experts through interactive sessions, fostering constructive dialogue and reinforcing trust between coaches and presenters.
Concluding the event, EWF President Dr. Astrit Hasani highlighted the importance of this initiative:
