The Executive Board of the Visegrad Four Weightlifting Federation (V4WF) held its latest meeting in Bobrov, Slovakia, during the 12th European Union Cup.

All four V4 countries were represented at the meeting by V4WF President Attila Adamfi (Hungary) and Executive Board members Dusan Kovac (Czech Republic), Zdzislaw Zolopa (Poland) and Marek Stit (Slovakia).

Also attending were Dr. Astrit Hasani, President of the European Weightlifting Federation (EWF), and Tomas Chovanec, President of the Slovak Weightlifting Federation (SWF).

The Board reviewed the federation’s recent progress, including its successful registration in Slovakia and the recent Visegrad Four competition held in the Czech Republic.

“Strengthening regional cooperation is at the heart of the Visegrad Four Weightlifting Federation. We want to develop meaningful cooperation at different levels and across different areas of our sport – from coaching education and the exchange of Technical Officials to creating additional opportunities for young athletes and exploring new competition formats. By combining our experience, expertise and resources, we can contribute to the sustainable development of weightlifting across the region,” said V4WF President Attila Adamfi.

Among the key decisions, the Board agreed on the federation’s new logo and the establishment of a dedicated V4WF section on the EWF website.

The process of seeking formal recognition by the European Weightlifting Federation (EWF) and subsequently the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) will also be initiated.

The meeting focused on future competitions and potential new formats, including urban weightlifting, as well as cooperation in coaching education and the exchange of Technical Officials between the four countries.

The Executive Board also discussed the federation’s financial framework, operational costs and potential revenues, and agreed on the principle of rotating hosting responsibilities between the member countries.

Poland was agreed to host the 2027 Visegrad Four competition, subject to the necessary approval.

The next Executive Board meeting is planned for the second half of November, following the 2026 IWF World Championships, when the federation’s 2027 programme, budget and development priorities will be further discussed and approved.
