The EWF was the first Continent to improve its Constitution with the Athlete Commission (AC), made up entirely of athletes, providing the AC Chair voting rights in the EWF EB.

Given that we are in a transitional period until the 2025 EWF Elections, including those for athletes, we decided to appoint a temporary Athlete Commission using the same criteria as the IWF.

EWF President, Antonio Conflitti; EWF EB Member and current EWF Athlete Commission Chair, Jesmond Caruana; EWF EB Member and EWF Legal Adviser, Oren Shai; and IWF Athlete Commission Chair and IWF EB member, Forrester Osei compose the EWF Working Group in charge of managing the process of forming the first EWF Athlete Commission.

The EWF Athletes Commission will be formed with the role to ” represent active Athletes and to give them a voice in the governance of the European Weightlifting Federation, including providing advice to the Executive Board on matters affecting the EWF from the Athletes’ perspective …” (from the EWF Constitution).

The EWF Athletes Commission Nomination Form can be found here.

The form must be returned to the EWF Secretariat by 29/12/2023. (the twenty-ninth
of December 2023), via email

Relevant information:

In the second half of January 2024, the EWF Athletes Commission Working Group will meet to select six candidates for the EWF Athletes’ Commission (3 men and 3 women).

A vote on those proposals will be held by the board at the EWF EB meeting on February 10, 2024.
